I am a Senior Policy Analyst at the Chicago-based Center for Tax and Budget Accountability, and write about urban issues here and in several other publications, including City Observatory.
I focus on housing and transportation as they relate to geography and inequality. At CTBA, I also work on Chicago and Illinois public pension systems and other budget issues.
I’ve had 16 addresses in 29 years—from University Avenue in Montreal to Bolshoi Prospekt in St. Petersburg—but grew up mostly in Chicago. Previously, I’ve worked as a middle school social studies teacher in Memphis, a travel guidebook writer in the Yucatan, a state representative campaign staffer in Peoria, and one of the guys who shout “PEANUTS!” at Wrigley Field.
I graduated with a BA in Government from Harvard in 2010 and an MPP from the University of Chicago in 2015, and have also been enrolled as an undergrad at McGill University in Montreal and St. Petersburg State University in Russia.
